On a recent trip to San Francisco I thought about this question. I was in the Castro area of SF and was surrounded by gay, gay, gay. I was on gay overload!!!! I think it is because I am not use to being around that much gayness at home. Yeah I mean we have gay bars and a few gay shops but to have your own Starbucks, Walgreen's, and several restaurants that are gay. WOW. I was never so glad to get back to the Midwest were gay wasn't in my face 24/7. I don't think I could ever live in SF, NY, or LA where you can be gay 24/7. Maybe it was because I was raised in the south and that I haven't been around that much gayness in my life. I do love going to San Francisco but just have to take it in small doses.
